MANCHESTER – Dragons, butterflies, and leprechauns were among the spectators today cheering on their teams during opening ceremonies of the 6th annual Granite State Regional FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition held at the Verizon Wireless Arena.Tickets Now on Sale for Amherst PTA’s Production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Tickets are now available for the Amherst PTA’s 56h annual play, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Performances will be held April 10, 11, and 12 at 7:00 P.M. and April 12 and 13 at 2:00 P.M. at Souhegan High School. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased at Moulton’s Market, the Homestead Grocery and Deli, and the Black Forest in Amherst, as well as the Toadstool Bookshop in Milford. All performances are general seating.
Joseph, a high energy musical popular with young and old alike, tells the story of Joseph, son of Jacob. Betrayed by his jealous brothers and sold into slavery and driven to Egypt, Joseph uses his wit and faith and becomes the governor of Egypt, second only to the Pharaoh. All this sets the scene for when he meets his brothers who have come to Egypt!
The annual Amherst PTA play raises funds to support programs benefiting children in the Amherst school system, grades K-8. Last year’s play, Fiddler on the Roof, raised over $15,000. The production team of Director Robin LaCroix, Music Director, Jim Emmond, and Choreographer Aimee Chester will direct this year’s play.

Free Child Check Screening – April 5
The school districts of Milford, Mont Vernon, Brookline, and Amherst sponsor FREE Child Check Screenings for children ages 3 to 5 years of age. If you suspect your child may not be developing skills at age appropriate times, you may wish to have him/her screened at the Child Check. Specialists screen children’s overall development including speech/language, motor, vision, and hearing. Screenings are also available for children under age 3. Results are shared with parents at the time of the screening. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED. To schedule an appointment, please call Jane at 886-8500, Ext. 317.
Open House at the New Pine Hill Child Care Center
PETERBOROUGH—Surround your child with goodness, beauty and the joyous fun that every child deserves! Pine Hill Child Care Center is hosting an Open House on Saturday, March 15 from 11 am to 1 pm. Parents and children are warmly invited to meet the director and tour the Center’s beautiful classrooms. The center is located at Con Val High School in Peterborough. Pine Hill Child Care Center is a Waldorf-inspired child care program, serving infants and children (6 weeks to 6 years). Care is available from 7 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and flexible scheduling is available. PHCCC is located at Con Val High School on Route 202 in Peterborough.
Bishop Guertin Mock Trial Team Wins Yale University’s Mock Trial Tournament Championship
NASHUA – Bishop Guertin Mock Trial team traveled to Yale University, February 8, 2008. There the BG team competed against 10 other High School Mock Trial teams from all over Connecticut. The BG Team went 4-0 and won the Championship! They placed First in Best Lawyer award; won by Senior Kevin Preskenis and First Place in Best Witness; won by Junior Kyle Endyke. The team consisted of Seniors Kevin Preskenis, Adi Ashok, Oliver Judd, Juniors Devin Lewis (Amherst), Kyle Endyke, Cassie Stepanek (Amherst), Erica Rafftery, Max Noring and Sophomores Andy Brink, Annie Citarelli (Amherst), Mike Plesac and Elizabeth Neal.
The Bishop Guertin Mock Trial team then traveled to Harvard University on February 21, 2008 and competed in Harvard University’s Model Congress Tournament. There they competed in 4 trials and an emergency trial where they were given a time limit to prepare and present the case. The delegates representing Bishop Guertin at the Harvard Model Congress were Seniors Oliver Judd and Kammas Murphy (Milford), Junior Steven Correia, Sophomores Annie Citarelli (Amherst) and Katy Devine (Amherst) and Freshman Nick Judd.
In June, the Bishop Guertin Mock Trial Champions will compete in the Mock Trial Nationals held in North Carolina.

Local Residents Attain Dean’s List at Curry College
Milton, MA - Curry College’s Interim Academic Dean Susan Pennini announced that Stephanie Wasson, an Amherst resident attained membership to the College Dean’s List for the Fall 2007 term.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.30 G.P.A., have no incompletes, and have no grade lower than a “C” for the semester.
Local Residents Named to Saint Anselm College Dean’s List
Manchester - Rev. Augustine Kelly, O.S.B., Dean of the College, announced that the following local residents were named to the Dean’s List for the first semester at Saint Anselm College, Manchester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Bentley College Names Local Students to President’s List
Waltham, MA - Bentley’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Robert D. Galliers and Dean of Arts and Science, Catherine Davy, have recently named the following local students to the President’s List. They achieved extraordinary academic achievement in the fall 2007 semester. To be named to the President’s List, a fill-time student must have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher with no course grade below 3.0 during the term.

Amherst Resident Named to Dean’s List at Connecticut College
Jacob A. Meade of Amherst, class of 2008 at Connecticut College, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2007 fall semester. Meade achieved Dean’s Honors, a recognition for students who have earned a grade point average of at least 3.3.
Amherst Residents Named to Simmons College Dean’s List
The following Amherst residents were named to the 2007 fall semester dean’s list at Simmons College in Boston.
Rachel Elliott is a sophomore at Simmons, majoring in undeclared. Laura Mazerall is a freshman at Simmons, majoring in undeclared. To qualify for dean’s list status, undergraduate students must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, based on 12 or more credit hours of work in classes using the letter grade system.
Local Student Makes MCLA Dean’s List
NORTH ADAMS, MA – Steve Green, VP for academic affairs at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts had announced that Jon-Ryan Cavanaugh of Mont Vernon was placed on the dean’s list for the fall 2007 semester, majoring in Pschology and Biology. To be eligible for the dean’s honor list, matriculated students must be enrolled in six or more credit courses, attain a grade point average of 3.25 or better and have no incomplete grades. A total of 537 MCLA students were named to the dean’s list this past fall.
