Evening Enrichment Courses & Workshops

Course size is limited to space available.  The courses will be filled with the first registered and payments before the first class will secure your seat.  The cost of the course is based on the number of weeks the course meets and residence in the SHS School District.

All courses and workshops meet at Souhegan High School – 412 Boston Post Rd.  Amherst, NH  03031.

Yoga: Kripalu Level I/II

Teacher:  Carol Gaudrea

Dates:  Monday   8 weeks    January 25, February 1, 8, 15, 29, March 7, 14, 21

Times:  5:45- 7:00pm

Cost:  $75.00 for residents, $85.00 for non-residents

In this class we will practice yoga postures (asanas), yogic breath work (pranayama), meditation and relaxation techniques. Kripalu Yoga classes help you develop greater body awareness while cultivating calmness and centering the mind. This class is appropriate for practitioners of all levels, with modifications shown for new students and students working with injuries, and variations are shown for more advanced practioners.

Participants should bring a yoga mat and block and optionally a throw or blanket for relaxation.  The instructor, Carol, has over 19 years of yoga experience, including 7 years as a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher.

Fitness: Strength Training

Teacher: Samantha Devine

Dates:  Monday & Thursday    6 weeks

January 25 & 28, February 1 & 4, 2/8 & 11, 2/15 & 18, 2/29 & March 3, March 7 & 10

Time:  6:00-7:00pm in the Fitness Center

Cost: $96.00 for residents, $106.00 for non-residents    ($8.00 a class)

Bring: Bottled water and light comfortable workout clothes.

The New Year brings change!  Some we plan for and some are thrust upon us.  Change is what challenges us and our minds.  Make a change for yourself – join me two nights a week to strengthen your body, sweat out toxins, discuss conscientious eating habits and change the way you view fitness.  Take steps towards a healthier lifestyle!  This class is intermediate – if you can shovel your driveway – you can take this class!!

 

Samantha Devine is an ISCA certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. She has combined her love of sports and working with people into her daily life.

Watercolor Painting

Teacher:  Kevin Dadoly

Dates: Tuesday   8 weeks    January 26, February 2, 9, 16, March 1, 8, 15, 22

Time: 7:00 - 9:00pm

Cost:  $90.00 for residents and $100.00 for non-residents

 

Join Kevin Dadoly as he instructs this popular studio course designed to enhance and challenge all levels of watercolor artists from the beginner to the exhibiting artist! Expect to explore all types of painting techniques, and subject matter, in an enjoyable and positive environment.

Mosaics!!

Teacher:  Susanna Ries

Dates: Tuesday  6 weeks      January 26, February 2, 9, 16, March 1 & 8

Time: 6:30-9:00pm

Cost:  $80.00 for residents and $90.00 for non-residents

 

This fun and creative class will focus on two techniques of mosaics - direct and indirect.  Using glass, shells, artifacts, pottery pieces and other items, we will form designs and adhere them to a wide variety of surfaces and shapes. Molds will be supplied for garden stones, trivets and pots.  We can also make a mosaic onto an item of your choice from your home.  We will be spending some time getting messy with powdered grout and sandy cement- come explore the many forms of mosaics!

 

Susanna Ries has been teaching stained glass for 4 years and creating original stained glass for 21 years.

Empower Yourself Through Food

Teacher: Deborah Cort

Dates: Wednesday, January 20, February 3, 10, 17

Time: 7:00-8:30pm

Cost: $50.00 for residents  $60.00 for non-residents

•  Looking for positive and empowering strategies that yield results?

 

This 4 week class will provide an introduction that will inspire you to step into a harmonious relationship with food, your body, and your life.

Some of the areas we’ll explore are:

Week 1: How stress and relaxation play a role in digestion, assimilation, and calorie burning.

Week 2: The roles that daily rhythms, pleasure, and awareness play in the metabolic process.

Week 3: Macronutrient balance and food quality.

Week 4: The postulation that who we are as eaters reflects how we show up in life.

Deborah Cort is an Eating Psychology Coach who received her coaching certification through the Institute for the Psychology of Eating. She also offers spiritual mentoring in her private practice in Amherst, NH.
