Amherst Garden Club Welcomes Landscape Designer, Andi Ross

Landscape designer, Andi Ross will discuss how the drought is getting longer.AMHERST – On Thursday, May 3rd the Amherst Garden Club will welcome Andi Ross. She is a creative landscape designer, private garden coach, horticulturist, oil painter and now a speaker all over New England at garden clubs, libraries and yearly at the Boston and Portland Flower Shows.

Her presentation is entitled “Water, Water Everywhere and Not a Drop to Drink”. She will discuss how the drought is getting longer and more intense in New England.  It is now more important than ever to understand one of our most precious resources - water.  She will explore the watershed in your area.

Rain collection and utilization will be discussed along with soil optimization. With this knowledge and  these tools we can assist our gardens to successfully get through the drought. There will be a hand-out.

Her business is called “It’s Nature’s Way”.

The meeting will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 303 Route 101, in Amherst, NH at 9:00AM.  Following the business meeting and refreshments, the program will begin at 10:30. The public is welcome to attend.

”Vegetable Gardening”

Jeremy Delisle, UNH Extension presenter, “Vegetable Gardening”AMHERST – Jeremy Delisle from the UNH Extension Service will be presenting at the Evening Meeting of the Amherst Garden Club on May 3, 7:00 pm to 8:30pm. His topic will be “Vegetable Gardening” There will be something for new gardeners as well as experienced gardeners. It will be a good opportunity to ask questions and learn what is current in vegetable gardening. He will cover all areas involved with growing vegetables.

The meeting is held at Parkhurst Place, 11 Veterans Road, Amherst. The meeting is open to the public with no admission fee. Light refreshments are served after the presentation. It is also an opportunity to hear about the up coming Plant Sale sponsored by the garden club and scheduled this year for  Saturday, May 12.

Annual Rabies Clinic

The Town of Amherst is holding its Annual Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 28th from 9AM-11AM at the South Fire Station on Stearns Rd. Dogs on leashes and cats in carriers please.  Cost for first pet per family is $15.00.  Each additional pet in same family is $10.00.  Amy Hollengreen from Amherst Animal Hospital in attendance.

Residents of Amherst may license their dogs at this time.  Residents of other towns are welcome to bring their pets for shots.
