Mock Car Crash Focuses on Drunk Driving
AMHERST – A graduation requirement of Souhegan High School is to complete a year-long project called the Senior Project, which encompasses many of the experiences, concepts, and principles we have learned in high school.
This event at Souhegan High school has taken months of planning and organizing numerous aspects involved in the event. This senior project has brought together the entire community by incorporating drama club, theater, broadcasting club, SADD, and the town’s fire, police, ambulance, helicopter, and funeral services.

Students Learn About Numismatics
AMHERST – In recognition of National Coin Week Amherst students from Clark, Wilkins and Amherst Middle School recently participated in a lesson examining some coins from the collection of Steve Morgan. In preparation for the presentation their homework was to bring to class the oldest US coin they could find. The student with the oldest coin received a special “collectable” coin as a prize. MORE

Graduation All Nighter Keeps Graduates Safe
AMHERST – Project Graduation was the subject of 2004 Souhegan graduate Allison Feeney’s senior project. Allison knew that graduation season was a time of great celebration for high schoolers but that it often involved risky behavior and the use of alcohol or other drugs at post graduation parties. Statistics from the National Highway Safety Administration highlight her concern indicating that some 58% of traffic fatalities are alcohol related during graduation season up from 41% the rest of the year. Souhegan Valley Chorus Announces Spring Concert
AMHERST – The Souhegan Valley Chorus will be celebrating our 28th annual spring concert with an exciting show! The title of the performance is “Lights Up On Broadway”, featuring a medley of wonderful songs from Broadway hit musicals!. MORE

CROP Walk Goes Green
MILFORD – Conserving water means conserving an essential resource for people in need around the world. The 19th Annual Souhegan Valley Interfaith CROP Walk is doing its part this May 4 by asking participants in the walk to bring their personal water bottles with them.
“We are going green,” said John David. “We want to eliminate the use of bottled beverages, plastic cups and Styrofoam bowls at the end of the walk and along the route. We are asking people to bring a personal water bottle if possible to reduce the number of paper cups needed.”

Spring Tradition Ready to Bloom
AMHERST – Yes, it’s April and many of us still have mounds of snow in our yards. Yet, plans are being finalized for the Amherst Garden Club’s Annual Plant sale on Saturday, May 10th at Wilkins School from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Every year this event is held the day before Mother’s Day and people pick up wonderful gifts for loved ones, as well as for themselves. Annual Rabies Clinic
AMHERST – The annual rabies clinic will be held on Saturday, May 3rd from 9AM to 11AM at the South Fire Station on Stearns Road. Amy Hollengreen, DVM from Amherst Animal Hospital will be the attending veterinarian. Dogs must on leashes and cats in carriers. The fee is $12.00 per shot. Licensing will be available to Amherst residents. The cost is $10.00 for a dog that is not altered and $7.50 for spayed or neutered dogs. MORE

Souhegan High School Girls Lacrosse
Sabers Are 4-0 For The Season
Traveling to Londonderry on April 17th, the Souhegan girls found themselves in a tight match but were able to pull out a victory (10-7) using their midfield speed and excellent goalie work by Kate Dobbs. Tyler Petropulos (2 goals, 3 assists) controlled the draw directing it to her wings or herself on almost every occasion. Teydin Hall had a terrific game in the defensive end and it seemed as if she controlled almost every ball that was loose on the ground. With her speed, Teydin easily ran past the opponents. MORE
