Three Rivers Overnight White Water Rafting Trip

Finish summer off with a huge splash while rafting down the Kennebec River in northern Maine! Join us as we embark on our first overnight trip with our new mini bus! More information can be found at amherstrec.org.

Foxwoods Casino Day Trip

The Amherst Recreation Department invites you on an adventure to Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

We will meet at the Walmart Supercenter in Amherst, NH on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. We will depart at 9 am and return to Amherst by 6 pm. The fee will include round trip traveling costs. Lunch/entertainment is on your own.

Hobo Harvest Time Express Train Day Trip

This fall, we will be taking a day trip to Lincoln, NH during the peak of fall foliage season. Price includes round trip train ride, admission to the Hobo Harvest Festival activities, lunch, and transportation to and from the events.

Sister Act Musical Comedy Day Trip

It is the feel-amazing musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that will have audiences jumping to their feet! Join the Amherst Recreation Department as we travel to Beverly, MA to enjoy the play, Sister Act! Price includes round trip travel to and from the play, as well as the play admission. We will be stopping for lunch before showtime. Please bring additional money for lunch, as it is not included.

Pre-school Programming

 

Preschool Playgroup

We would like to offer a brand new program to the town of Amherst! This FREE program will give preschool age students and parents a chance to get out of the house and play together. This is a great way to get preschoolers out and engaging with children their own age.

Tot Soccer

Our program is offered to 3 and 4 year olds who will be introduced to the basic building blocks of soccer including dribbling, passing and kicking skills through games and activities appropriate for their age group. This program is offered on Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings from 9/16-10/15.

 

Tiny Toes Dance

Our Tiny Toes Dance program is for girls and boys ages 3-5. In this 4 week program, students will get an intro to dance.

Youth Programming

Cross Country Team

This program will emphasize on learning how to run cross country and include trail running. We have two new levels of running this year; the fitness level and the competitive level. The program is open to athletes ages 7-18.

 

Yoga for Kids

Encourage children to turn off their devices and tune in to themselves with yoga.

 

Who: 1st-4th Graders

When: Tuesdays 9/15-10/27

Where: Wilkins School

Fee: $55R; $65NR

 

Yoga for Middle School

This yoga class is suitable for males and females who are experienced with yoga and those who are new to yoga.

 

Who: 5th-8th graders

When: Wednesdays 9/16-10/28

Where: AMS Chorus Room

Fee: $55R/ $50NR

 

Spanish

These before-school sessions will provide basics for beginners and challenge the more advanced student. Class time will include grammar, phonics, pronunciation and occasional worksheets. Learning will incorporate familiar stories, songs and music.

Trail Running 101

Are you a road runner who’s tired dodging cars and road construction? Get off road and run the trails for a 4 week intro to Trail Running. Join George Bower and Amy Hull to learn about proper form, techniques, equipment and safety while running the beautiful trails at PMEC.

True Potential

Amherst Recreation is fortunate to have Leslie Formby, certified Hatha Yoga Instructor, as our yoga teacher. She offers classes for preschoolers, teens and adults.

Join NH Craftsman Artisan Ray Lagasse for a single 8-hour day and make a basket from scratch to finished project. These beautiful and useful baskets can be given with pride as a holiday gift.

Adult & Youth Horseback Riding Lessons

In conjunction with Walnut Hollow Farm of Amherst, horseback riding lessons for kids & adults are back.  Students will learn the anatomy of a horse, barn management, tack, grooming and ride in their outdoor or indoor ring.  See more information on our website.
